It’s time again for Summer Reading and this year Adventure Begins at Your Library™! CTBL’s Summer Reading program is for all ages and runs from June 3rd to August 16th. To get started contact the library by phone (1-800-685-2136), email ( or fill out the form using the link below to let us know you would like to participate. We’ll even send you a small prize for signing up!

To participate, complete ten (10) activities from our Activity Guide and call or email CTBL to let us know which activities you did. Once you have completed your ten (10) activities, we will send you a completion certificate and a Colorado Talking Book Library baseball cap you can wear on all your adventures.

2024 Summer Reading Booklists

Booklists are divided by grade level, and there is some overlap. You may find books of interest for yourself or your reader on several of these lists.

Just like last year you will have a chance to vote for an organization that the Friends of CTBL will donate to at the end of the program. Remember, the more people that complete the program, the larger the donation will be! This year’s organizations to vote for are:

  • Kickoff event (all ages)
    Monday, June 24th, at 2:00 pm MDT
    Join us on Zoom for our exciting kickoff program! NLS Director Jason Broughton will open this year's NLS Summer Reading Program with welcoming remarks, followed by Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden, who will read a children’s book for our young participants. Afterwards, we will have fun singing and moving to the music provided by Matt Mazur of Turtle Dance Music.
  • Turtle Time Storytime
    Thursday, July 18th, at 2:00 pm MDT
    Turtle Dance Music Man, Matt Mazur, is back! Matt will lead us in singing and dancing and treat our young readers to a reading of Saturday by Oge Mora.
  • Author Talk: Angeline Boulley with Andrea L. Rogers (YA and Adult)
    Thursday, July 25th, at 5:00 pm MDT
    New York Times bestselling author Angeline Boulley will discuss her books Firekeeper's Daughter and Warrior Girl Unearthed in conversation with the moderator, the award-winning author Andrea L. Rogers.
